Pianist Diane Battersby was a longtime beloved member of Montclair Music Club. A faculty member of William Patterson University and Montclair State University, she taught private students for over 30 years. As a winner of the 1992 Artists International Auditions, she was presented in a New York recital debut at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in 1993. Throughout the years she performed numerous solo recitals in the U.S. and Europe. Other New York City performances included Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, the 92nd Street Y, Steinway Hall, Trinity Church Concerts series, and the American Landmark Festivals. Her students have won numerous competitions and performed at Weill Recital Hall, Steinway Hall, Cami Hall, Donnell Library, and Greenwich House Music School. Diane served as Director of Music for the First Presbyterian Church of Verona. In that capacity she created the acclaimed Young Artist Concert Series. In honor of her memory MMC has made a contribution for the planting of trees in the U.S. National Forest.
